I’m driven by connection—between artists, audiences, and ideas. After years of performing and producing from LA to NYC, I’ve rooted myself in Salt Lake City to build spaces for experimental performance and creative collaboration.
Whether I’m choreographing, performing, or producing, I thrive at the intersection of logistics and imagination.

Meet The Force Behind Fleet Cooperative

Shelby Taylor is a multifaceted artist from Brigham City, Utah, with a journey spanning coast to coast. With a rich background in the performing arts, Shelby's artistic practice revolves around celebrating the essence of humanity and fostering interconnectedness through intimate experiences. Drawing inspiration from her diverse experiences living in artistically rich cities such as San Francisco, Atlanta, New York City, and Los Angeles, Shelby infuses her work with a unique blend of perspectives and influences.

A product of esteemed institutions including Northwest Dance Project, San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, Broadway Dance Center, Millennium Dance Complex (Los Angeles and Salt Lake City), BYU's Contemporary Dance Theater, Movement Lifestyle, and Edge Performing Arts Center, Shelby's artistic journey has been defined by a commitment to continuous learning, exposure, and growth. In addition to her performance training, she holds a Bachelor's degree in Business from BYU with an emphasis in Event Industry Management—an educational foundation that informs her work as a producer, organizer, and leader in the arts.

As the founder of Burnswood Studio, Shelby carved out a space for DIY creators to thrive, showcasing her entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to community-building. Renovating and managing the space herself, she provided a platform for emerging artists—including members of her company, Fleet Cooperative—to develop and present original work.

Shelby’s ongoing leadership as founder and director of Fleet Cooperative underscores her commitment to collaborative, community-centered art-making. Fleet’s debut production, Monomyth, earned local acclaim in November 2023, followed by Cabaret in spring 2024. She led Fleet to their New York City debut of GNAW at Arts on Site in summer 2025. These immersive works reflect Fleet’s mission to create meaningful, evolving art that resonates deeply with audiences and uplifts local artists.

Beyond her work with Fleet, Shelby serves on the faculty at Summit Dance Project in Park City, Utah, where she brings her experience and passion into the classroom to mentor the next generation of dancers. She is also a certified Lagree instructor, integrating principles of strength, endurance, and injury prevention into both her teaching and choreography.

As a freelance artist, Shelby wears many hats—dancer, choreographer, instructor, director, videographer, photographer, and editor. Her diverse skill set and unwavering commitment to the arts continue to fuel her journey, inspiring others to find their voice and forge meaningful connections through storytelling and movement.
